just wondering what a reasonable selling price would be. I understand one of the coins has a flaw or variance of some sort, and would like it's value and how to identify it. thanks

The one coin in the set is what's called the Map Mule and it was only issued in circulation finish (the plastic/leatherette cases). The mule has the Map of the World reverse and an obverse dated with 1974 -- the regular coin is dated 1973.
As for the rest of the coins, even in Proof finish and all packaging, we sell them for about spot price. Today, about $3.50 x Face.

If you have the wooden boxes they are most likely proof and may be worth a little more than the brilliant uncirculated. I've seen the complete set for anywhere from $800 to $1200 on ebay here in Canada. I just checked the sold listings on ebay. A BU set went for around $700usd with the shipping this month (july). Each 4 coin box should get you a little over $100.00 plus shipping on the bay from what I can see. Always check the sold listings to get an idea what things are going for. And by the way....Welcome! I concour with Universalcoins about the world map.

Also does it depend on the packaging? Some coins are in capsules only, others have the original plastic case and paper sleeve.

I buy them for the same price as I do all bullion-value coins -- 75% of spot.
Packaging really doesn't matter. The majority of my buyers for these items are strictly for bullion. In fact, I've got a customer that buys them for melt, breaks them out of the capsules, then uses them as poker chips -- $40 buy-in for the $10 coins, so even if they walk away with them, he wins!

Sastrugi, if you are looking to sell them for melt, find the Canadian mint store closest to you and take them there. They will give you between 95% and 98% of the daily spot. If you are the GTA, there is a store in Newmarket, I believe.

I see dealers are asking about: $5 coin = $35.00 $10 coin = $70.00 Boxed set of 4 coins = $205.00

There is 1.445 troy oz of silver in the $10 and approximately half that for the $5.
Melt price based on $21.90 (CAD silver spot price) would be ~$31.50-$32 for the $10 coins and ~$15.75-$16 for the $5.
