I've found many a few coins where the obverse face is punched very close to the edge/there is no rim on say the left side, and a larger rim on the right. While the reverse has a perfect punch
Are these style coins considered collectable/rare. And or do they carry a premium?
I'm new to the whole collection thing, literally just a month deep into it. Any posted link is greatly appreciated
These are called misaligned dies (MAD)as opposed to off center strikes where both obv. and rev. are misaligned. They can be collectable if they are dramatic and the devices fall off the edge
I wondered the same thing, did a little research and came to the conclusion minor "MAD"s Misaligned dies only carry a premium when like 1/4th+ of the coin is off the coin its self. I could be wrong though.
