I just received my $15 Fine Silver Coin (year of the Sheep) subscription for this year. In all the years I've been collecting (long enough) I've never seen such a poor quality coin.

Throughout the reverse and parts of the obverse is littered with filled die errors - the kinds you don't want. One is particularly obvious to the naked eye:

On the next image, these aren't specs of dust; they are fragments. The obverse is just as bad.

More of the filled die error:

Similarly on the obverse, near the rim (interestingly has a frosted relief):

In addition, the capsule looks like it was cleaned with some abrasive cloth.

I might order another one and keep this one as an example of the worst possible NCLT ever produced.

That's just awful, canadian_coins

I believe the mint's desire to pump out as many different coins as possible has affected their once worldwide reputation for excellence.

The RCM's quality control has fallen dramatically in recent years.

Is this the future we can all expect? (rhetorical question)

I've noticed the last 2 out of 3 silver coins I've bought from the RCM in 2014 have had the same problem. At first I thought it was dust so I opened the capsule ( which I hate doing ) to make certain. Most of it was dust but a few were specs. The quality control team is ether sleeping on the job or just do not care anymore.

Dust trapped in coin capsules are annoying but it's something I know all mints suffer from. But the amount I'm seeing is more then I'm use to from the RCM.

The RCM's quality has definitely changed for the worse over the past couple of years.

Until this year, I had returned only one RCM coin due to quality concerns. In 2014, I have had to return three coins for exchange. Considering that I don't order many coins, having to return three is troubling.

I finally decided to return both coins for an exchange. After more than 2 weeks no news... no acknowledgment, phone call or email.
