I ordered two sets of Silver Lunar Lotus 12-Year Subscription Series (2010-2021).
The mintage of first Tiger is 19,888.
There is another classal series.
Anyone has any comments on that?

Myself, personally, I prefer the classic vs the lotus series. The classic are priced the same as the lotus, but the lotus are sterling silver (92.5%) (apart from the 2012 dragon) while the classic are 99.99% silver.

What does that extra 7.5% mean? Well for starters, getting more silver for the same money is a good thing. Two, there is sales tax on sterling sliver, not on 99.99%, so the classic end up being way cheaper.

Classic:

Lotus:

I must admit though, I like the red box of the lotus more than the brown box of the classic.

They changed the Lotus to 99.99% starting with the Dragon, so it is now tax free.

@ Lithanial, like I said....
lotus are sterling silver (92.5%) (apart from the 2012 dragon)

The question is, what will happen with the rest of the coins? Back to sterling or stick to 99.99%?
The 2013 snake is due out around September. Time will tell.

Here is what the 2013 snakes will look like.

In case anybody is curious and has not seen them on the mint's page two years ago. :)

I remember the lotus coins are 28g, not 1 full oz, so a lot less silver, besides, double the mintage

26.29g to be exact, so another reason why the classic series is better! :)

With all of the negative comments I left, I forgot to mention something.
I never said I didn't order them both. :)
The boxes for the coins are amazing and are one of the best reasons to get either or both sets.

@ silverdollarnuts - I have seen them on ebay from time to time. We have an ebay seller here on this forum who has the handle encalibur. I think I have seen him sell the box a few times.

I don't see any for sale by him at the moment but maybe he can give you a hand.

Beautiful case indeed! It's such a daunting commitment for a collection like this though.

encalibur is my wife and i

Unfortunately we don't have any cases left for sale. I do know one dealer in Toronto carrying the red one, but they are charging close to $300 for the red one. A bit expensive by me. Compared to the el'cheapo cases that the RCM spews out regularly, this display case is really nice. It's got real heft to it, likely actual hardwood, and is finished with amazing detail.

If you are still interested at this price, let me know and i'll see what I can do.

@jpaiva83 Thanks for upload the snake coin photos. Are they the real design for the Year Of Snake (2013) coins from RCM?
If yes, I am so disappointed about the design. Why?

First, the design of the Snake is something to0 simple, not impressive.
Second, so much empty space on the second coin. It is a terrible design, First coin is acceptable.

As a collector, I will not buy this coin.
But As for myself. I will have to buy although I really hate the design, because "Year of Snake" is my year.
I am a Canadian, so my first priority for coins of course is from Royal Canadian Mint. I will also look for another mints Snake's coins. They might have a better design.
