I watched this thread because OP is from my home state but never heard back.

I guess the coin was a fake and the coin shop just submitted it on a hail mary. If you have coin questions in central Indiana ALWAYS see the guys at Lost Dutchman.

Where is the list Dutchman? I live in East central Indiana and have been looking for a good coin shop. Tried Silver town but they recently stopped selling coins. And yeah I'm guessing it was fake. If not someone had no idea what they had.

lost dutchman is in Indianapolis. The owner is one of the 2 guys that runs the podcast "Coin Show" on iheartradio. It's a pretty good podcast. I've never been to the store but seen their stock at coin shows and it appears to be decent.

I've done on-line business with Allen's in Westerville OH for years, for everything from US gold to French silver. I don't know whether you ever travel to Columbus OH but they're worth checking out.

I'm assuming that if we don't hear back from you, the coin came back counterfeit?
Best of luck!

Well considering he was last here a year and a half ago I don't think we will be hearing from him.
