Okay here is an decent 1810 CBH which will be arriving here soon. What grade would you put on the holder? There are some rim dings and the pictures are poor, but what would you grade it anyway?

Thanks and Take Care
Ben

Of course I have no books here right now, but I know that the clasp is a main ingredient for one of the grades....Since the feathers look decent, and the clasp is well defined, I'll shoot from the hip and say high VF. Without a book in hand I couldn't tell you if it makes EF.

Defintely has EF details in my book; the reverse looks nearly AU, but there's too much wear on the obverse. Strong stars, though. As mentioned earlier, the clasp is well defined as is most of the hair, with wear showing in the highest spots. The rim dings are a negative, limiting the upper value of the coin I would suspect, though they don't seem too distracting from the photos. I'd even entertain arguments that the coin could go AU-50? The pictures just don't give you enough to work on relative to old cleaning, but what I see sure looks original.

All-in-all, for the right price I'd sure be happy to have her in my collection!

I love the skin....as for the rim...you may want to just pass her onto a fellow board member. I hear rim dings cause severe ED in middle aged men? BTW, Does anyone oppose a thread dedicated to busts of all denominations or just individual denoms. in order to keep and use all this great info and reference material in one place for easy access? Just a thought.
