In the middle of the S there seems to be a straight line and I can't quite get a good picture of what appears to look like a D under the S. What do you all believe it may be.

From the pictures the 'line' looks as if it is Over the 'S'.

Is that the case?

Its the best photos I got so far. I've been trying for better but photography is not my forte LOL. You think it may be a S over D? I hope so, I decided to buy 3 at the same time off aBay. 2 out of the 3 I got t2 of these varieties. The other one was just a plain O'L nice high grade 1946-S (Sans S MM)

Looks more like a damaged punch? Note a couple of RPMs shown on copppercoins that show this mark:
http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=lds
http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mds
The RPM is not on this, but the punch formed this on these two dies. Damaged punches seem to alter the inside parts of the "S" often. Denver damaged punches show on the serifs more often.

Thanks Coop. At least I know it maybe worth a few bucks now. The 2 pennies I do have are BU RED fresh from rolls. Ads a note, I see the guesstimate value and also the disclaimers coppercoins.com has, and some of the varieties sold way above on Heritage and 1 grade higher can mean thousands. Example, the 1960-D double die D north, in MS66 its worth $1,000 to $1,700 then a MS67 would be worth anything over $20K or more. How 1 grade can mean 10 times or more on some varieties. Thanks again Coop.
