Do you think that would details the coin? Personally I doubt it but it would be nice to have an expert confirm this.

A hairline will not get you a details grade like a scratch would. I'd say 63. The reverse, and reverse strike are very nice indeed.

I say 63 and close, but not quiet fbl.

Also, I just read the other form about scratches detailing, so seeing that picture again made me laugh.

I'm thinking it depends on whether the grader/ grading service perceives it as something that occurred after the coin left the mint.

Dave, do you think that maybe the coin got the hairline from another half dollar while still in the mint bag? It doesn't look like grafitti or tooling to me.

My best guess would be that it's a light staple mark if it's a straight line. Only Ben knows for sure.
