grr601 Valued Member United States 100 Posts	Posted 08/04/2014 5:29 pm Counting an auto loan I have accounts at 4 different banks. Two of them are large national banks, one is a smaller local bank, and one is a credit union. I have asked all four if they could order a box of half dollars for me and none of them will do it. One of the big banks will let me get up to 5 rolls at a time when they have some, but the others won't even do that. It is disappointing and I fear I may give up my roll hunting for halves. One bank told me that they could order a box for me, then called me at home later to say that they don't order halves or dollars. They offered to order smaller denominations for me. I don't whether to try harder and ask to talk to a manager or throw in the towel. I Report this Post to the Staff

I have many stories I could recount regarding parking lot searchers, short bag whiners, poached bag offenders, etc, all contributing to the demise of helpful banks. For every educated hunter (that reads this forum), there are dozens that have no idea that proper etiquette is very important when dealing with banks. BUT, I have had nice results getting BAGS of IKES. Largely because (or actions) I treat my Branch Manger with a heap of respect. Even sent her a very large expensive floral arrangement. Once. NEVER NEVER NEVER complain about a short count. Your behavior hurts the rest of us. The picture below is bag number two. I strongly believe if I had complained at that bag, I would have never got the next 5,000 ikes. Yes 5 bags. DouglasFir Valued Member Canada 160 Posts	Posted 08/06/2014 01:44 am Keep at it, I've had some similar experiences at banks (we can't order halves in Canada unless the teller has a few in her drawer). KEEP trying. It will pay off. I wish I could order a bag of halves as I love the JFK. (one of my favorite coins). Try different banks, travel further, smaller branches are sometimes willing to be a little more helpful. But don't give up! Report this Post to the Staff
