My young adult daughter has been hired as a clerk/cashier at a local video store. They stay afloat by having a loyal customer base and renting/selling...um...lots of dirty movies. She said that her first day wasn't just credit/debit card sales and she actually had cash and coins in hand! Now, the question! Other than the obvious silver identification which should be easy to teach her, what would you have your kid hold back and change out (after making sure it was ok with the boss)? What will be easy for a non CRH-type person to spot? Thanks in advance!

Out of circulation coins (Buffalo nickels, V nickels, wheat cents, Indian Head cents) as well as commemorative coins.

All of the other denominations would be silver.

Also be on the look out for silver certificates, star notes, and fancy serial number bills.

Wheat cents will be the most common. Tell her just anything before 1964 except nickels? She'd be a few years off on wheats, and get any silver.

this may be a place where I would suggest CLEANING all the coins he comes into contact with. also hand sanitizer might be a helpful purchase for her to make and have in her pocket at all times.

I'd teach her the basics: silver ( War Nickels and 40% halves in addition to the pre-'65), anything obsolete, silver certificates, and maybe some of the key date nickels. She isn't likely to find anything outstanding, although from my experience working in a liquor store, people tend to be more willing to spend "extra" cash (read: parts of collections) on their... um, habits.
