Interesting - maybe just a well placed hit? Looks like it would have to be a different font size if D/D.

I suspect you checked out CC on this.

Yeah, CC doesn't have a picture of 1MM-001, but says , "secondary mm shows to the southeast and is rotated CCW". Wish there was a picture....

It's one to hold onto for further study. I have a pill bottle for these issues. About half full of undocumented specimens.

Perhaps one of the experts will chime in and render good news!

Maybe this is better? Looks like a little "D" on top of a larger "D".

sounds like it but no pictures to verify it 100%

i know there is a Broken MM punch of 1979 but yours is not that

yours matches the D/D Southeast

and also markers on varietyvista sound good as well

Does your coin have the die scratches Ocala brought up? Kind of looks SW-NE pattern on the scratches. Latest picture does help (reduces the disparity I saw on the earlier pics).

Yes - SW/NE pattern. Might be doubled. The MMs in the mid/late 70s always look crappy to me. Filled in when the device failed, perhaps due to its smaller size. I would have passed right over this coin as I rarely take a closer look at these dates for MM varieties.

This MM is less filled in than some I see. So maybe a normalish MM over another, normalish MM.

I don't think it's an RPM.

The overall shape of the mint mark looks normal. But did you note the contact marks on the vest, mint mark and the last digit. It maybe a contact mark that damaged the coin during circulation?
