I would like to see the coin outside the 2x2 to be able to tell for sure. But if the price is cheap I might take the chance. You might want to ask the seller to take some better pictures before you decide to bid on it.

Seller doesn't want to remove the coin from the packet but added a couple of picks along with the size and weight, 25mm 14g.

I still would like to see pictures of it out of the 2x2, but I think it looks OK. There are better examples on vcoins for just a little more than what he wants. At least at vcoins there is no doubt that it's real.

Certainly looks genuine and has no appearance of being a casting. The diameter of 21mm is rather small and the flan looks to be of normal normal thickness. 12.42 grams seems heavy for such a small diameter. My own is 25mm and 12.17 grams. Are you sure about the 21mm ? I believe the coin is 'good'. But it seems to be heavy for a 'little fellow'

Looks genuine indeed, you made the right choice pish! Mine hase a diameter of 25mm as well so its quite small. An ancient imitation perhaps? The croc is a little different as well comparing it to other examples I have seen.

I am an idiot. It is 26mm, no idea how I got the other measurement. Thank you FR and Dutch.

I have done the same thing a few times when reading the scale. I suspected as much which is why I asked ! The coin is 'spot on' and from what I have seen of late the type has been fetching high prices on ebay ! Yours is a very nice example. A great type to have. I always recommend acquiring any decent first century material that fits the budget. I never regretted any I have bought ! And any I have parted with have always brought a nice profit.

Thanks FR, makes me feel a little better.
I am putting this down as an As: Agrippa & Augustus Æ As. Gaul, Nemausus, circa 10-14 AD. IMP/DIVI F P-P, back-to-back heads of Agrippa, in combined rostral crown & laurel wreath, and Augustus, aureate / COL-NEM, long, vertical palm with crocodile chained below, wreath to left of palm tip with ties trailing to right. RPC 525. RIC 160.
The main difference between the As and Dupondius is the palm tree bends to the left for the Dupondius and is more vertical for the As as far as I can tell.

Thanks guys, I am a happy bunny! I am trying to figure out the DSLR to get really good pics, but yesterday I spotted a hint on the photography forum. These pics were taken with iphone. I need practice cutting out and colouring the background. I use the mouse right handed but I am actually left handed and I am finding the detail work very tricky.
