Hi! I am a newbie to this forum and hoping to gain some information regarding a 1865 plain 5 Indian cent I recently purchased. The reverse of this coin definitely shows doubling. However, I can't tell if its strike or Longacre doubling? There is doubling on the shield, Ribbons, leafs, and arrows. I would also like to hear opinions regarding the grade (Coin is an appealing red/brown that really doesn't show in the images). Not use to posting pictures here. Hopefully you can see the details.
Thanks for your help.

Looks like Strike Doubling, common for the era. There is a DDR on the fancy 5 type, and it commands a significant premium.

As for the grade, high AU. Looks like a touch of wear. Nice coin.

I agree with Strike Doubling. If you look closely at the doubling around the shield, the shape of the secondary image doesn't quite match that of the shield, as it has been smashed by the die hitting the coin a second time.

Welcome to the CCF!

The surface color looks unnatural to me ... cleaned/retoned. IMHO, AU details, net XF. The doubling effect appears minimal to my eye, so-called hub-doubling? Overall, it's a very pleasing and interesting coin.
