I got my 1922 Plain a few days ago that I purchased from "harborcoin" on ebay. It's a PCGS G-6 strong reverse.

First, I'm re-posting the same pictures that I posed earlier from the auction. Reason being they are exactly how it looks in hand. That's a point for Harbor Coins. Also, including shipping I paid a total of $599.50 for the coin. My dealer said HE would gladly pay that much. I guess that's a plus for Harbor setting a low reserve, and me being at the right place, right time.

On the negative they don't accept returns on certified coins. Perhaps that's good for me because I think I got a deal. Right now Gray Sheet for a "Good" is $660. Mine is on the high end of the Good scale.

So here it is.

Not a bad coin, nice color, no problems. I'd call it an AG-3, Maybe a G-4 at best. Rims aren't complete on the reverse. (Or the pictures make it appear that way. If the rims ARE complete then I'd go G-4.)

How can you grade a No D? The dies were so badly worn when the coin was minted, the normal grading scale should not apply IMO. For all anyone knows, it could be uncirculated...unless you're a grading professional, I don't see how you could tell.

Regardless of what anyone else grades it as, PCGS has it graded so be it. Now my question is where are you getting all this money lately? Constant buying up valuable coins makes me suspicious.
Well if you have the money, why not.

From what I've seen the No D grades at least a full, solid grade higher than a normal Lincoln with the same appearance.

You grade the 22 "P" from the die 2 die pair from the reverse. The die pair 2 was struck using a relatively new unworn die so it is graded just as you would a normal coin. You only pay attention to the obv for color or damage, not wear.

Thanks, I've been wondering about that for some time.

Conder101, I was not questioning you assessment friend. I honestly was wondering...my reply seemed harsh after I reread it.

Nice buy PT. You've added a couple of nice cents to you collection lately. You thinking collecting or investing?

I didn't think you were questioning the assessment. A lot of people wonder how to grade 22 plains. The real problem is how to grade die pairs 1 and 3 since in those cases both dies are worn out.

Thanks! I'm looking at it from both angles. I have a strong passion for collecting, but at the same time, if I'm going to spend a substantial amount on a coin I want it to be a solid investment.
