This one I'd thrown aside as wear but the inner portion of the D is perfect and looking north east. Looking at coopercoins I did not see anything that immediately looked close. Likely a Red Herring, let me know what you think. Thx

After checking CC's site I recommend checking double dies.com,there is an RPM section.

Thanks John, ...so I went to Wexler's site and he lists 50 varieties for the 46 D and several have the same look as my coin. Which one though I do not know...I'm thinking it is a D/D after seeing those. I'll see if I can line it up with one, any help appreciated. Thx

It maybe a RPM, but with out the spread between the punchings, it is just a normal mint mark. Even on tilted RPMs, not all get listed. The stronger the spread, the more interest in these. So while the mint mark may have been affected by the punching, we are not seeing it as a collectable RPM. Sorry.

Without taking a "wild"angled picture, I've added an outline (grey line) so you can see the upper portion of the top D. The "blob" in the center is odd but I did see hints of the same, not as large, in some of Wexler's examples.

There looks like a contact mark in that area. Note how it kissed the left edge of the 4.

Definitely, the 4's west corner took some force but no residual after leading from that edge. None the less an interesting coin to look at. Maybe die wear would create that blob?

Or the blunt force that made the indention on the 4 that carried over on the mint mark, pushing the to the south making the hill you see?
