Is anyone aware of anyone building and selling business strike 'mint' uncirculated sets for the years the mint 'did something else'? Specifically I am thinking of 1965 - 1967 (the SMS years), 1982-1983 (the NULL years), and 2005 - 2010 (the Satin years). I'm building really nice sets of modern issues using mint sets as my source material but those years above provide a real obstacle. I don't need slabs, just honest-to-goodness uncirculated sets, maybe in 2x2's.

If not, and if you think there is a market, maybe I'll start putting some together myself. Buy rolls... bit investment, but I think these years are being overlooked.

Many of those years had mint "Souvenir" sets that you could buy at the mint gift shop. There are a few of those floating around.

There are tons of people who just do year sets in plastic holders on ebay. Just search "year set".

Souvenir sets from 82-83 maybe, but I've never seen one for the SMS or Satin years. Most of the year sets I see are for a single mint or a mix, never for a complete mint-mark set.

There may be a small market but you might be surprised how small. Very few people are collecting moderns at all and specialty sets would be a subset of these By the same token though a person could almost rule this market since there is so little competition for the business. Finding rolls of old clad is very tough and then you have to be sure with the '65 to '67 and the '05 - '10 that the rolls you find aren't mint set rolls. Almost all the supply of something like a '69 quarter roll will be mint set coins.

Later sets should be easier to put together but a few of the coins, like the dimes, might be elusive.

The only thing you'll have going for you is that knowledgeable collectors will be willing to pay up for the sets. You'll have a lot of things working against you including the relative dearth of knowledgeable collectors.

Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
