I did file with postmaster in town. ebay rep emailed me last night and said because its high value, they need a few things from me. 1 was photos of packaging and what was inside the box. In my case, there was the usual paperwork, some padding and the broken pcgs slab with no coin. 2 they need an incident report from police. They went into detail about how to obtain one. This shows them it was reported. So again, as if being robbed wasnt enough, I have to go to the police again and file an incident report. I'm sure the police will have some comment lol. Twice within two weeks and both time coin related. I already sent the photos and after the report, ebay said my money should be released.

I wouldn't neg the seller, it's really not his fault and with that feedback you can be sure he wasn't trying to scam you. I can't blame him for being defensive with a $1400 coin, there are plenty of buyers that scam sellers too. IMO, this calls for a neutral feedback rating because of his poor communication....but definitely not a neg.

So ebay stepped in and put a "hold" on the case till monday. They wanted me to send them the photos (which I did) and get an incident report feom the police. I went and the police said the usps is not their problem and could not do an incident report. I called ebay and told me to just get a name and badge number. The craziest part of the story is the nasty seller, who has caused nothing but problems, left me extremely positive feedback yesterday? Do you think its because he dosent want me to neg him?

ebay may have made the seller leave the feedback for you since you did pay. It is how it is meant to work so sellers don't retaliate with negative feedback when the seller is in the wrong. Must mean ebay has contacted the seller directly and asked question including why feedback wasn't left if they have been paid.

Showing signs of the seller not going to get out of this one, but doesn't mean you will get what you are owed either. Worst case scenario, the seller could get banned over something like this, and you are still at a loss as well. Really depends on what the police report or record states, and the post master does.

Just hold your feedback until the situation is resolved when ebay has time to handle the info. I am sure the coin was stolen in transit if the case it was in fits through that slot you showed. Can one be broken when shaken in a priority mail box? Maybe the case wont fit, but if it was broken while inside the box, the coin could have fit through the hole and pocketed by yet another thieving USPS worker.

BTW< mail fraud is the police problem so I don't understand what they are going on about, but just follow ebay instructions to the end.

Sellers CAN'T retaliate with negative feedback. They can't leave anything except positive feedback for buyers. Leaving a positive with a negative comment is also against the rules and if they do it you can have the feedback removed.

They must have changed it then. I got negative feedback from a seller after I paid, they sent the wrong thing, and they never tried to fix it, and ebay never helped either. It was a way of things back then that the seller usually left feedback AFTER the buyer did, which is not how it should have been able to work in the system. The buyer shouldn't be able to leave feedback until the seller does, because the seller has to be paid in order to send the item, so therefore should leave the feedback first.

But it had nothing to do with coins, and if it is changed, then about time.
