Has anyone put together a set of the 40% coins from the late 60s - 70s? I have all of the coins in my series albums and examples in my type sets as well but since I've been finding the Ikes and the uncirculated 1976 set at melt, I thought it would be fun to put together. If anyone has put one together, how do you store it? I may do a custom Dansco, but would love a capital plastics type display (except the cost would probably exceed the coins). This run of coins has always interested me since the composition really makes no sense.

You could just use a small album designed with pockets for 2x2 cardboard holders.

Capital plastic would be a great way to display a set of those but they are hard to find. Ask a local dealer in your area if they have a blank capital plastic half dollar holders. They probably won't but then if you give them your contact information I'm sure they will be more than happy to contact you the next time they buy a set in one of those and break it up for sale.

Actually the 40% composition of silver does make since when you look at the context of time. All the countries around the world were watering down their silver. The last Mexican Un (One) Pesos with silver from 1957-1967 were 10% Silver. Canada even went to 50% Silver midway through 1967 then to 1968 in prep for going all clad in 1969.
