Ugh... you do your best to honestly sell duplicate coins in from your modest collection, and an individual with too much time on their hands harasses you via ebay's messaging system, alleging that I'm overgrading a coin in order to swindle the masses. Ultimately, wanting to avoid any appearance of impropriety, I added the following three paragraphs to my listing noting that there may be a difference of opinion in my grading of the coin. "In the interest of full disclosure, ebay user '<redacted>,' who apparently has more free time than functioning brain cells (and who more likely than not, lives in his/her parents' basement), has done me the favor of sending three harassing messages via ebay (the last one including a clichéd and overused ***not family friendly*** joke) to let me know that he or she thinks that this coin has been cleaned and believes that the coin has been more circulated than ***not family friendly*** (his/her words, not mine). "'<redacted>' also suggests that I should have difficulty sleeping at night, given that his/her difference in opinion of the coin's grade proves beyond a reasonable doubt that I am attempting to swindle someone out of the immense sum of $8 by overgrading a coin. What's really keeping me from sleeping at night are my visions of a cushy retirement in Maui, for which I'm incidentally only $8 away from accomplishing. So fortunately for the ebay community, I'm risking criminal charges to steal only $8 from you to accomplish this dream, rather than use my sinister and diabolic plan to defraud y'all out of much more tidy sums of money. "So, in conclusion, I think the coin is uncirculated and uncleaned (as did the ANA-member dealer from who I purchased the coin some time back), but before bidding, please know that there's a hero out there disagrees with this assessment, and has heroically taken the time to send me three messages with numerous grammatical errors to let me know of this difference in opinion. If you should happen to bid on the coin, and strongly disagree with me as to the grade as '<redacted>' has, I'll happily give a refund." I also responded to the troll to let him/her know I've updated my listing in light of his/her comments. What do you think? Did I go too far?

Yes and No. No because your response is justified and understandable. This person should respect your opinion should just avoid the listing if he thinks it's unreasonable. Yes because let's be honest, anyone reading the response on ebay and not on CCF will think you are some crazy old, spiteful man and will probably just avoid your listings thinking that you're the problem and not the harrasing member. My advice is just remove it and write the "grading is subjective, please review for yourself etc." Stuff that most sellers write.

and add him to your blocked buyer list. You do not want him winning a coin and then coming back to give you a big red negative.

Nah, it's just about right, and your disclaimer as it stands would make me more likely to do business with you, rather than scaring me off.

Be assured, he's been added to blocked bidders list. Did that right after the first message.

A completely over-the-top reaction of course but in a delightful way!
Well done.

I like it These people need to be called out sometimes to let them know they are not 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

Oh, and now the fourth almost incoherent message has come in with the same ***not family friendly*** joke that wasn't funny the first time and the individual stating that the spelling and grammatical errors were due to texting while driving. What a piece of work: endangering the lives of those on the highway to complain about an ebay listing. And forget the benefit of the doubt I was giving this person in redacting their name above. The ebay user name is "animater9" You're all adults and can do what you want, but I'd advise you block this person as an ebay bidder, especially if you're selling Washington quarters.

I think your response is funny. But I have been accused of having a warped sense of humor on more occasions than I can ever be expected to remember or count.

Idiots on both sides of the table are part of ebay life. As a Seller, I feel fortunate to only get one every couple of years. The buying idiots don't hang around long when they get blocked. The selling idiots eventually drive themselves out of business.

If anyone happens to harass him it's not my fault.
