Please help me identify this coin. I did some research and I'm starting to think it's some kind of modern reproduction. Thank you.
P.S. Sorry if images are too big, I thought it would be useful to see details

I think it is a modern replica.
'Hadrian AE Limes Denarius. HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, laureate head right / RESTITVTORI GALLIAE, Hadrian standing right, holding sceptre, raising up Gallia, kneeling left.' (wildwinds)
Here are some real coins:

scroll down to RIC324 - RIC326

corrections welcome

Maybe you are right. I saw many similar ones, here are some http://www.coinarchives.com/a/resul...earch=restit
None are the exact same thing, though. Thank you

It is supposed to be a Hadrian denarius, but this is a fake coin.

"Or not", unfortunately. I have to agree with Petrus and echizento.
A copy of a Hadrian denarius.

While I will add that I agree it is fake, I would also like to take a shot as to why. I find it is frustrating when knowledgeable dealers resort to "it feels bad" because that does not convey any real learning or help.

In judging a fake I think of it as check list of warning signs, indicators, or hints that something might be wrong.....or right.

My perception:
1) Hadrian portraiture not right. Do a search on acsearch.info for "hadrian denar" and look at a hundred examples. You'll see.
2) although possibly an artifact of the photography, the relief of the coin looks too flat.
3) reverse depiction again off

If you can attribute the coin I strongly recommend that you do a comparable search to find other images.

Other things I would check? Weight. Is there evidence of a seam of a filed down casting sprue...........and probably others I am just not thinking of right now.

Paul
