I just found this. I have a thing for die clashes and this one was on my list. This is a mad die clash type II for 1996. I'm not sure what Jason has it called on his die clash site but this is what its called in strike it rich in pocket change.

Sorry, being new to these errors, how does this happen? I like it...something else to look for.

Nice! Is it a clash or a counter clash?

Did you look on maddieclashes.com? I looked and didn't see it on there. You might want to get in touch with Jason about this one. Maybe he will list it on their site.

Then I would try emailing BJ Neff. I think he has been taking care of this site lately.

From what I can see, I see a doe dent or die gouge. Maybe an on hand look might show more. But that is what I see.

Coop look at Strike it rich with pocket change and you will see what it is. Its not a die dent or gouge. In the book he has this one and a 2000 Mad Die clash shown in his book. This matched to a T on what was on his page. This on he has valued at 50 and the 2000 one he has valued at 200. The 2000 MAD Die clash is a lot nicer though and still looking for that one. I'm not sure its really valued at that high though but it is still a neat find.

It's a pivoted die clash. The obverse die (or rather die assembly) pivoted around an axis of rotation located well to one side of the center. The letters ST of STATES appear beneath Lincolns' bust. This one used to be listed on maddieclashes.com but evidently was lost when the information was transferred to a new server. I'll let BJ Neff know of the omission.
By the way, there's no such thing as a Type II MAD die clash. You must be confusing it with a Type II counterclash, which this is definitely not.

Thanks for clearing that up Mike but what does TY stand for in the book? I thought it just meant type 2 oh well.
Also was reading book and it says photo courtesy of Mike Diamond. So you discovered this?

The business about "TY II" is nonsense. The authors or the editors must have messed up. I was the first individual to recognize this as a radical MAD clash, so I suppose you can say I discovered it. By the way, BJ fixed the link: http://www.maddieclashes.com/mdc-1c-1996-01/
