I agree with you on the 2nd coin. I replaced it with the original seller pics, which are probably more accurate. I think the 1st pics are fine, and the coin does not appear cleaned to me. Also, I will buy any coins that look like the first one Mike for VF30 money. Both of these coins are stronger than my 1856 graded PR30 by PCGS. Here is my complete flying eagle set now, that should be included with my VF30+ indian set.

In your new photo, it appears to me that the SL is actually in the L Let slot and the LL is in the S Let slot.
With that being said, yes, the original 1st coin does look better in that new photo. The 2nd coin looks to have the hairline scratches of a cleaning. Also, the details show better in the new pic, I'd agree they have better details than the 1856.
That is an awesome 1856 by the way :)

Yeah, it looks like I mixed them up. Any more thoughts on grades?

What am I missing? I don't see any signs of cleaning. The LL color looks a little off, but could be caused by lighting/settings.
LL XF 40 or better. SL VF35 or better.
Great set.

neither look cleaned to me in hand either. Not sure what everyone is seeing either. Id give the LL a solid 45 with traces of luster. It is just slightly weaker than my PCGS au55 1857 that redies in my 7070.The SL Id give a solid VF30. Just barely makes the grade and will someday need to be upgraded.

Thanks TypeCoin. Those were exactly the grades I was thinking too. The 1858 LL is comparable to my 7070 type 1857 which is an ex PCGS AU55...the 1858 is slightly weaker on the breast and does not havee as much luster...but pther than that they are not too far off.
