Does anyone think this could be a minor DDR, or is it just a well placed die chip? It's to the left of the curve in Jefferson's nose.

It looks like a die break.

To it is appears to be a die chip. I pulled up the image from the U.S. Mint and it doesn't show that in the design.

Thanks coop. I knew it wasn't a part of the design, but I know that the center of the die is a common spot for doubling on the ultra modern (single squeeze hubbed) doubled dies. I just wanted to make sure before tossing it. Thanks for taking a look guys!

That my friend is a double die. Sorry about your luck because you already threw it back. I been trying to find a value on them that is how I came across this post here is link to your coin http://doubleddie.com/1319040.html

Forgive me if this seems dumb, but how can that be doubling if it has a different contour than the shape it's doubling? Not even Machine Doubling is capable of that. Is it an artifact of the single-squeeze process that a doubled feature doesn't have to look like the original?

Yeah ssuperdave I been after the same question myself wondering these shapes come about. If you look at the centralized doubling on my 2015 quarter I found, the ones I have had recently attributed don't look like the feature either, I thought it was a die chip or a die clash. If someone could explain the single-squeeze and how this happens I'm all ears too. I only recognized it from the double eddie file because I been living in them for the last 2 weeks.

The hub snapped into proper alignment when the central part started to hub the die.

thank coop for that overlay that really helps would you be able to recreate an overlay for the 2015 and one more question why does the only real sign come from one place? is it the highest place on the coin or ? I would expect to see more areas affected that is what I'm not understanding
