Here's the blushing Abe out of the plastic. Very difficult to capture the beauty of these, they're much more attractive in hand: Image: 1963AbeProofObv.jpg98.57 KB Image: 1963AbeProofRev.jpg82.42 KB

I just thought I would post a thought on the cause for the Jefferson ,, many nickels from the 50 and 60's seem to have had a bad mixture of the different metals which make up the alloy ,, The little specs of debris that is present on your nickel are just unfortunate and are not the cause of the toning IMO. The colors can vary dramatically ! 1963 Black Beauty ! 1961 Black and Rose The golden color on your nickel is a very common color for the jeffersons ,,but one I truely like to find . Metalman

Very nice proof set - although I gather you broke it up. I understand. I just hate that plastic packaging. If I may ask, did you acquire that in an unopened envelope?

Thanks Yes, all my proof sets were from my Grandfather's collection, they were all in sealed envelopes AND in the original, unopened boxes from the mint. He bought multiple sets every year and simply wrote on the outside of the boxes what they were.
