1971 S Jefferson nickel DDO-003 & DDR-004 & RDV-007

I need some help with verifying this one.. I bought a bunch few months back and I think I finally figured this one out.

My guess is a DDO-003 & DDR-004 & RDV-007

I have yet to date been able to find a Jefferson Nickel RDV Summary? Anyone know of a RDV guide or reference for nickels?

DDO-003
The front has Light spread on LIBERTY, star, date, and designer's initials
DDO-004 / RDV-007
Light spread on OF AMERICA

I am going through several DDO and DDR Jefferson nickel's I have purchased or found in the last 5 months to try to figure out or match the attribution numbers as they didnt have any. wexler, cpg, etc

I got got in the mail Jefferson nickel die varieties vol 2 pretty awesome book but it only covers major varieties and use a few website to figure them out. But reference on nickel is very limited.

I will if people are interested I will share a whole bunch of them here as I figure them out?

I did not take these photos.... These are the original auction photos as I will retake them soon but I do own all these coins.

There was a book I saw on auction, but didn't bid enough to get it. Seems like a Wexler publication for nickels. It had a blue cover. I think it was this one listed as good reading publications on his site:

Quote:
The Best of the Jefferson nickel Doubled Dies - 2nd Edition by Brian Ribar and John A. Wexler. 284 pages (8.5 x 11 inches) illustrate the best doubled die varieties on the Jefferson nickel series as listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files. The varieties are illustrated with over 1,000 photos.

The essence of learning is to gain enough knowledge to state facts ... as such I humbly suggest you share your own photos with you own conclusions.

Looking forward to viewing whatever you can post.

nickelsearcher, I agree with you...

Photos are of the actual coin I own, not from the reference book talked about.

I usually 98% of the time use my own photos but not always sometimes the photos are from the auction. But I do always own that exact coin pictured.

Mine are easy to tell as they always have a yellow background from rag that came with some vericare stuff I ordered.. I also have always noted when the image was not mine.

So I digged it out and redid photos as I do agree with you...

Some people don't like if you use there art. It just never bothered me much and I didn't think about it much from that perspective as I see several ebay pictures on the site.

And I also see copies of my old art regularly from marvel, disney, warner on sites everywhere.. I other day even seen one my drawings traced and turned into a local billboard for a super dentist lol...but I do see your point just my mind set was more like what Felix Schlag might think..

But with this coin I assumed I would not be able to get good photos for others to assist with iding as the coin is highly mirror reflective and is extremely toned and assumed my pictures would make it not useful.

This coin I bought about 2 to 3 months back literally when I first started collecting as of today 8/21/2014 I only been collecting for 6 month 11 days.

I do need to upgrade my ghetto photo rig...Been reading up on how to get better pictures too.. The glare on proofs kills the details...

Thanks. I went ahead and ordered one. Looks like it might be a help here with all the nickel varieties?
