Also, has anyone had any experience with Vedi-Care? I know the general consensus is don't use chemicals on your coins. Just curious, thanks.

XF40.
"DON'T CLEAN COINS!"
Any modern coin looses value after cleaning.
(Ancient coins are a different case)
Won't knock much off the value of this one, if you DO clean it.

Try some acetone on it. As is, VF at best.

I agree it is VF

I use Verdicare all the time along with a proper acetone treatment. It does not compromise the fine layer of silver sulfide on the surface which is where "cleaning" a coin does. Acetone and Verdi will do this coin just fine. A nice soak for several hours if not a day will remove the grime and leave you with a good looking VF example. Go for it.

wheatchaser, can you draw a picture of what an XF would look like?

After looking at the pic again, I need to wash my hands. But thanks to the OP for posting. Have a good weekend.

Thank you to everyone that provided input. Looks like I'm off to the hardware shop for some 100% acetone. Apparently (according to various archived posts) fingernail polish remover (which of coarse is abundant in the house) is a big no-no. I don't want soft coins, although lemon-fresh I wouldn't mind.
