What is a usual and customary charge for having an investment coin examined, rated and certified? I would prefer to have coins rated in my area by certified person, but have no idea what they would charge. RWA

Do you mean TPG's like PCGS,NGC and ANACS? If so check their web sites. Most LCS will submit for you if you are not a member of PCGS or NGC,I think ANACS doesn't require membership.

Look to pay around 30$ for an average certification. It is dependent on the value of the coin along with how fast you want it done.

I would say no. I think the coin in question should be worth at least $100-$150 to justify the charges.

I'd some gambling in hope of the coins I submit will receive a high grade, sometime you win and most time you wont get what you expected.

John1 is right about the minimum value to be in the hundred plus range in order cover some of the cost in sending it in for grading.

You will also have to pay postage (both ways) on top of the $30 fee.

Thanks to all responding. Do these companies have area or regional certified people to do the review? Some area shops claim memberships and that they grade coins. Just wondering. Have a couple that may be worth the effort and cost. Thanks.
