If you have prowled around dealer cases you may have run across the dupondius size Kushan AE tetradrachms. None of them generally run a ton of money but at the same time none of them are really much to look at. I'll even go so far as to say that one side is sort of goofy and cartoonish.

However, again while listing some coins to my store, I had just photo'd this high grade one. Dates to 100-128 AD, and I believe the ruler depicted is: Vima Kadphises. On the other side we see Siva in front of a bull.

What really is extraordinary about this coin is the condition. I honestly have never run across a high grade one before.

Enjoy!!

High grade Kushan anything is hard to come by. Your coin is quite nice it exibits quite the sand patina. This coin must have been deposited somewhere arid. Most base metal coins coming out of C. Asia are so corroded due to the soil composition and weather factors. I collect Kushan coins and have been able to aquire only a few in high enough grade. Kudos to your coin I want it. Let me know if you wanna see some higher grade Kushan.

that is a fantastic one, nice color, details and legends. nice to see some eastern coins on the board...they don't seem to attract much of a following. here's one I posted recently, a smaller kaniska i...i don't have any of the large kushans yet.

Paul, I saw you list this one on VCoins earlier this morning. It is a fairly nice coin, and should clean up nicely if anyone ever decides what to.

You're right though, they're rarely seen in high-grades because they rarely are struck right and were used thoroughly at the time.

Nice coin.
