Obviously a type 2. Not sure if seller is just ignorant or trying to be deceptive.

Hi!

Just a heads-up: Your coin is NOT a 1916 Standing Liberty quarter. It has a Type 2 Obverse and Reverse that didn't start in this coin series until later in 1917.

You may want to look at this thread from the Coin Community Forum:

Cheers!

Nice. I love it when sellers get the news that the coin they are listing is not what they say it is. Hopefully they listed it in ignorance, and not on purpose.

Let us know if they respond.

KKirby99 totally called me on this. (Type 2 started in 1917!!) I've corrected my post to the eBayer and above.

Well done KKirby99!

Seller now describes it as a 1917-M quarter.

Dateless SLQ's are worth melt.

Moe,

Just tell him you're not interested. It's extremely common and worth melt anyway...

Something along the lines of "Oh... I wasn't interested in purchasing to start with, I just wabted to inform you of the discrepancy to help you avoid issues in the future, by the way, this isn't a 1917-M either as there was never a "M" mintmark on US coins"

Hi again Tito_198623!

Another head's up for you: This Type 2/Pedestal date Standing Liberty quarter was minted from 1917-1924. Your quarter could be any of those dates, since the date is unreadable.

Cheers!

Moe

Your quarter is worth close to silver melt price; around $2.00, best guess.
