I purchased a small box of athletic medals from a yard sale for a few dollars. I found a large heavy silver coin, I believe it to be silver but that's not confirmed. Anyway, I cannot find this coin in any of my attempts at internet searching. Does anyone know what this was for? I can see on the back it says OXFORD AND CAMBRIDGE VERSUS PENNSYLVANIA AND CORNELL - ENGLAND. So I understand it to be from an athletic event but it is a coin not a hanging medal with a ribbon loop at the top. I am also wondering the age of it, it is not dated. Any ideas anyone?

It might be a medal about the rivalry of rowing between the universities

to CCF. Not a coin but some kind of a medal. Give it a bit and a member will help you out.

I think they also run track against each other. I found a few articles from the 50s but no picks of a medal or coin.

It is a sports medal from a long standing track and field competition between the four schools. Some basic research shows that the schools meet every two years to compete.
I think your best bet to nail down the event and year (if this is just not a medal for the meeting itself) is to contact the archive department at one of the universities. Cornell, at a quick glance, has an online archive record for this event and with other schools vs. Oxford and Cambridge.
I once did some medal research and needed the help of the head of archives at a well known university. I was able to obtain a lot of information.
As the medal has the line at the bottom reverse with the word England below it I would eliminate the US held meets.
