So, as most of us already know, the RCM will be releasing a 5oz 6 coin series featuring 6 circulation currency.

The coins in the series will be $2, $1, 50c, 25c, 10c and 5c

For me, this is something I have been waiting for since I started collecting coins! I dont know what it is but I love over sized coins, especially over sized circulation coins.

The only thing deterring me is the price, not sure how this series will do seeing as how it's fairly low mintage (1,500) but I think aftermarket prices will be high.

Showing as awaiting stock for the "Subscription" which includes a special box limited to 300 pieces.

Thoughts? Predictions?

Traditionally, the 5oz silvers haven't done well but the subject isn't as good as this with the exception of the 5oz Penny. I wonder what this will do to the value of the 5oz Penny. If I bought this big coin set, I would go 5oz penny hunting..

I believe there are 350 boxes. I think it will do well for now. It might be difficult to sell one day especially if someone is willing to spend over $3,000 on a single purchase. I love the look and debating getting the set.

Yes jsinger you are correct, there are indeed 350 boxes.

The price is the only thing holding me back on these...still undecided

@pre33gold I cannot post anything more about the series until it becomes public, so far it's for MC (Master's Club) members only. If I post a picture the thread will get deleted.

It will come out soon enough, September 2nd I believe for the public

Absolutely successful series and the coins.

As I mentioned, their uniqueness in the replication of the circulation design (+questionable gold plating).
RCM can make unlimited variations of "animal" designs, commemorate events, first nation traditions or nature landscapes.....and all these 5oz coins could be purchased now $50-$100 below the issue, and will be reduced with the time.

But oversize replica of circulated coins - always will be "on top". Well, it still will loose the value, sometimes, but not so soon as the others.

Thanks to high price and low quantity - the sets haven't been hoarded by the flippers, but see how successful was 5oz loonie - be sure, that the individual coins will be hoarder.

At the bottom:
Get your copy as soon as possible, and do not forget to buy other amazing items by RCM.

Added:
read it again, and understood, that gave great feedback for this series. Yes, I will recommend it to the friend.
Now, hope, I will be rewarded by RCM

One of the main reasons this series will be successful is the low mintage of 1500 per coin. Some 5 oz coins have a mintage as high as 2000; like the 25th anniversary of the SML last year.

The fact that flippers have not jump on it right away means collectors have bought most of the coins. That means prices can only go up as flippers are not driving down the price of the coin by getting rid of it as soon as possible.

Also, since this coin is first in a series, the price of it will likely go up.

I have no regrets in subscribing to the series as it will be the center piece of my collection. The cost does not bother me too much as it is spread over one year and I will adjust my coin budget accordingly. In other words, I won't be buying other coins as much.

I think these pieces have "crossed the line" so to speak and should really be considered medals rather than coins.

The "denominations" on them are truly symbolic as they are all the same size/weight/composition regardless of their indicated denomination. Even for NCLT, I believe these pieces have pushed beyond reasonable specifications.

They're being called "coins" to make them easier to sell -- many collectors look down on medals as lesser collectibles -- but it seems a bit silly to me to consider them as such.

It's nice to see folks excited about them and wanting to make them the "centerpiece" of their collection - I think that's great. If I lived in Canada, I might consider adding them to my collection. If I did, however, I know I would consider them medals rather than coins.

Just me, your mileage may vary.

That's good point. Just missed it.
Probably, if RCM just called them "Circulation coins medallions" it will distract many collectors.

Might be the best could be, if reverse will keep the circulation coin design with symbolic denomination, while obverse has real denomination that fits these pieces - $50

Interesting point commems. And I agree that if they had called these anything other than "coins" I myself (and others) would probably be turned off.

I don't see any ebay listings yet, which means flippers did not get any or many sets. Good sign for aftermarket value. I am seeing a ton of superman pre-release coins though.

Cause superman considered by majority just as the item for resell, people know , that there will be demand for this.
And the set - just over-sized overpriced stuff in their mind.

True, but I think this set will have much better re-sale value. Superman is obviously playing on the well known and established Superman brand name and fan club, in fact I think most if not all of the people who are buying these pre-sale coins for over FV are just Superman fans with no knowledge or interest in coin collecting. A whole different market for the this 5oz series however.

I predict an over-sized mistake for them on this one. ;)
