Purchased a coin on July 30, paid for it immediately, seller marked payment received August 5. Coin has not been received as of yet. Unfortunately the seller does not reply to messages. Worse, I've now discovered the image used is a generic. Either that or others are using his image (which I doubt).
I realize it's a bit early yet for delivery failure, but what would you guys do and how long to wait until I file a complaint? Do I keep trying to contact the seller or just wait it out a while longer?

I won one on July 29 and still have not received the coin. I sent him a message last week and has yet to respond. I am glad it is only a $10 dollar item and I payed with PayPal. I have noticed that people have left feedback about a month after the auction was completed, maybe he is just a slow shipper. Check your sellers feedback and see when people have left feedback and when the auction ended, that will give you an ideal what kind of turnaround he has.

Sorry, but I don't care what other feedback and dates are, that is unacceptable to me. 21 days and no coin OR no response. I would probably send one final email informing the seller that I am filling out a complaint unless I hear something from them in 24 hours.
Of course, what does te listing state for shipping terms. Sometimes it states they will ship within 7 business days or something like that, which gives them tons of time....

The next communication this seller would get would be from the ebay dispute resolution center ! and if you paid by pay pal the disputes would arrive hand in hand . Sorry I have no patience with sellers who do not communicate with their customers ! Metalman

I would to file a dispute with paypal, they will contact the seller, if he doesn't reply then you get your funds back. I have been through this loop a couple of times, sometimes you have to perform the threat of a chargeback to get these people off their voluminous duffs.

Me neither, it is because I treat people like I like to be treated. I communicate with buyers through the sale, let them know I got their payment when item sent etc. I had one guy write back that he hadn't gotten the coins like three weeks later, but the package was going to Manitoba, and the Canadian posties are notoriously slow. It finally arrived. I happen to buy a lot of stuff from E. Europe and a lot of time sellers will not communicate because they have limited or no knowledge of English, but I figure even Polish is better than nothing.

OK good points there. Freight from Victoria usually takes about a week and times are stated as 1-6 business days. Registered post was chosen which means the package should be recorded but in order to do a trace the seller (not the receiver) has to file a late delivery complaint to Australia Post. Which I can't do cos I can't get hold of him.
Also over here most sellers will not accept Paypal, so direct deposit was used.
For the next piece of bad news, clicking on the "me" icon reveals this "Hi folks. I am on holiday in Europe until the end of august but I will keep up to date every day if I can. So if you don't get a reply to your email within 24 hours please be patient as I WILL answer it but I cannot always get online at a 'hotspot' when I want to".
So here I have no coin, seller gone to Europe, no chance of chargeback, and a generic photo of a coin that is going to cost me $350.
Could I have done any worse?

He goes to Europe on holiday, and probably forgot to package up and send your coin.
He has managed to rack up 4 negs, and 1 Neut in 105 transactions, even the positives say he is a no email kinda bloke. Surely better sellers can be found for nice Sovereigns.
Edited to be family friendly
Sorry didn't know bidet is a bad word in english.

Yes the feedback could have been better, but I took the bait about the "FDC" part of the description. I had to see an FDC sovereign. They just don't come up in that grade very often. Still, I am an idiot. It was too risky.

Does the Oz PO have anything about buying through the mails etc. like the US PO does? Here if you buy something through the mail and do not receive it, it can represent postal crime, and you can report it. Also I would file a report through ebay. Hopefully this will get the sellers attention whence they come back to Paradise and he will cough up the Sovereign for you. Hope all works out well for you.

I've never heard of postal crime. It might be different here.
