Could be MS, but looks cleaned to me too with some possible damages. Looks almost like solder on the obverse that was removed.

Definitely cleaned. Sorry to say, but at $54, you did overpay for that coin. Don't beat yourself up over it, I made plenty of similar mistakes when I first started collecting. Lesson learned.

AU-Details, harshly cleaned.
Were the first two images the seller's? They look professionally done and highly deceptive.

Thanks guys for the welcome and for all the input. I wonder how or why solder got on there? But anyway just to better understand grading a bit. If I were to send it in to get graded and it was graded as AU-XX or MS-XX the slab would be an Original Only cleaned probably? How would the damage effect it and I'm assuming if it is solder it's PMD? Thanks again for all the information, I've been reading non-stop trying to soak information in.

Yeah the first two pics were from the sellers listing, that's why I will return it.

Where do ya'll see the wear for the AU grade? Or is it just the damage and the harsh cleaning? For the OP: I agree with the other folks here who have previous said: ebay is a real mine field. The dude that sold you this was posting it as "Choice BU" and he should know better. The seller has a high number of coin sales. People are incentivized NOT to give neutral or negative feedback, so even with high rating it is really buyer beware.

Here's one that is in a slab MS-64. I'm not commenting on the price, but I'm wondering what is the motivation from a dealer NOT to slab a IHC that he thinks is MS 63 or better (i.e. "choice BU" or "Gem BU")? My guess is that the coin that is not slabbed would be given a details grade or an AU grade? Comments? I hate to be so skeptical, but that's been my experience. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1902-MS-64R...em2ecfa295f0
