I'm really curious if this has anything to do with their use of others photo's which was an issue that was just posted in a different thread only a week or two ago.

Seems like the Forum Dad over there hasn't been heard from for a couple of months and he's the only one with any knowledge of the reason or the power to do anything about it.

I joined the English forum a few months ago and received an email saying my application had to be activated by them and that never happened, so I forgot about it until now. I did join the French forum without having to be activated though.

If I'm not mistaken this is almost 2 weeks now.. I don't think this is just a general maintenance issue... just really too bad.. as I like even going there frequently.

Perhaps it's a copyright issue and the site's been taken down? I've found several coin reference books in my local library and which contains many exact same pictures as on the site. Most of the major varieties, actually.

Most of the major varieties, actually. We know exactly which book(s) you are referring to, and the copyright infringement is with the author/publisher of those books, who mined that website regularly, without asking permission from the original variety discoverers, and without proper acknowledgement of their sources.... But, discussion of these "books" are very slippery slope on CCF, that we don't want to start sliding down... all I will say is that copyright issues are probably not the reason the site is down...

Not a copyright issue not down for routine maintenance. The owner of the coinsandcanada site hasn't been heard from for quite a number of months, until he reappears it will remain down.
The best reason not to mention the "books" is because it gives the author free publicity, something not deserved, any discussion of them brings no resolution, only publicity.

I didn't want to go find the list of the book titles (I forgot where I put it), so I just typed "several books". Sorry I mentioned the books... should I delete my previous post?
