When I do a search for an item, i.e., a 1909-S Lincoln Cent: Under "All Items" it gives me 96 items found, under "Auction" it gives me 87 items found & under "Buy It Now" it gives me 161 items found. Same thing when I searched 1931-S Lincoln: Under "All Items" it gives me 60 items found, under "Auction" it gives me 48 items found & under "Buy It Now" it gives me 77 items found. Shouldn't "All Items" be the total of the other 2 categories? How can "Buy It Now" give me more items found than "All Items"? Am I missing something?

Auctions can have 'Buy it Now' prices so its possible for a coin to fit into both categories. so the total items found will include coins that are for Auction and include a 'Buy it now' in the same listing. So the total items will be less than the two separate categories.

I don't think you're answering my question. "All Items" should be including "Buy It Now" items. Therefore, the number of items found under "All Items" must be higher than the number of items found under "Buy It Now." But they're not. Why?

"All Items" only includes the core site. "Buy it Now" includes the BIN's on the core site and store only items.

bobby,
I don't mean to be "thick," but could you elaborate? What's "core site"? What's "store only" items?

You can run a BIN that will run the same duration as auctions, with similar listing fees to auction, and show up in searches with auctions. (core site) If you have an ebay store, you can put BIN's in there, that are drastically cheaper to run, run in 1 month increments, but do not show up in a normal auction search until the very end. ( ebay store only)

I don't usually collect USA coins, but foreign ones and that is where the search fun really begins. You have to go into the advanced search function to search not just the core ebay site in the USA, but all or most of them. It frankly is too much of a hassle a lot of the time, so I don't bother searching for stuff I used to. Yes, you can save searches in my ebay, but cannot for all ebay sites.

Some of my all-time best scores have been from ebay Stores. They don't get nearly the traffic that the core auctions do. I hit Stores at least once a week for some of the things I'm concentrating on.

How do you search "Stores" only?

The link to ebay Stores is on the front page, with Categories, Motors, and Express.
