I have a 1967 penny but the error is that on the side which is usually embossed with the date only the first three numbers of the year are legible. That's the error but the strange thing is that the year 1967 is struck into the other side of the coin in very large don't. Does anyone know anything about this type of error? Thanks!!

Looks like a counterstamp, worth 1 cent.

Counterstamp.
Also, can't be a 1967 penny, a 1967 penny has a dove on it. It's date is between 1960-1964.
Rest in Peace

It is odd.. Now that you mention it the last number in the date is pretty unintelligible but it is more like a 4 than a 7.. You think it's possible that the number was sanded off and stamped by someone other than the mint?

I think the deep counterstamp on the obverse is what has obscured the detail on the reverse.

Its a 1964 penny that someone counter stamped 1967 on the obverse..its not a 1967 in any way.

^ why do you say that it is a 1964? Definitely not later than 1964, but the last digit looks to be rounded at the top. I would guess either a 1960, 1962 or 1963.
