I picked this one up recently and found it quite interesting. It appears to have been an end-of-roll Morgan with lots of blue toning on the obverse. Also near PL on the reverse and I would have to call it MS. Do I have a LDS? I think so.... Any thoughts to grade, AT versus natural toning, EDS/LDS much appreciated. PG

I would say there appears to be enough meat in the mint mark to call it LDS. As for the grade and AT versus NT, I would say it's as close to MS as you can get if it's not actually MS. The reverse looks like it could almost be an MS coin. The obverse tone appears to be old as there are some spots rubbed bare and I would guess it may not be intentional but may not be considered natural either. Yes, I agree - interesting.

For an EDS coin, you're going to want to see at least separation between the upper and lower edges of what used to be the "S" - the center of the shaft shouldn't be filled completely. I'm going to have to call this one (in a rare opinion for me) AU58. To my mind the marks on the cheek and especially those on the reverse rim are consistent with circulation handling and not Mint handling.

Frankly, if I had this one in hand I'd be looking and thinking very carefully about thiourea. The final decision would probably be "no" because of how dark the toning is, but I'm thinking there's a pretty terrific obverse under that color.
