OK, it was bad enough when this coin was in an NGC AU-cleaned holder:
http://coins.ha.com/itm/liberty-dou.../1208-4078.s

But now, it's in a PCGS AU-50 problem-free holder:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201164046858?ru=http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html%3F_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=201164046858&_rdc=1

I have 2 questions.....
1. Am I the only one that sees that Lady Liberty's nose has been scraped off and someone severely sandpapered off a scratch in the right reverse field below the wing.
2. Who do I have to know to be able to obtain a grade like that from PCGS on such a severely damaged coin?

This makes three dogs in new-style PCGS slabs we're discussing at the same time. Unbelievable.

The "premier" grading company has had a lot of "oops" lately.

the proof is in the pictures

Shame on PCGS for certifying this problem free when it clearly isn't.

Honestly, it looks alright to me. AU53-55 net graded to 50 for the hit on the nose. I don't see the cleaning, it looks like typical AU dirty old gold.

You're right, the color's fine - I think NGC gave it that for the sandpapering on the reverse. That one feature would be enough for a Details grade - even at AU - were I the grader.

I see what you're talking about, but given the rarity of the issue, I understand a net grading rather than a bodybag.
