Just got this from the mint and I'm wondering if the little dings and scratches on it are normal for these new curved coins. Or should I send it back to request a better one? I'd prefer it to be pr69 at least.

If you want a coin with a specific grade I recommend just buying that grade coin already graded. A whole lot simpler.

I don't mean a specific grade, so much as do you think it's worth keeping marked up as it so. I say pr69 in that I'd like one that would grade well if I were to grade it, but I'm not going to.

But if this coin would grade at 65 because of those marks then I'd say it's not decent, and the mint could do better

I'd send it back period. You will probably get someone's returned item if you request an exchange. Buy one you can see. I gave up on the mint some years ago. nlp

Thanks nlp! Yeah I'm rather new to collecting so I assumed the mint was the best place to get new coins, but obviously that's not always the case.

The HOF silver/gold have been sold out for quite a while so you won't get a replacement. If you don't like the coin then send it back.

My last submission of 10 silvers got 9 70's so the quality is fine in by me....

Foxwoods the OP is talking about a clad half which are still for sale on the mint's website.

If you're unhappy with it send it back. IIRC, there is a way to get the mint to reimburse you for the return postage, but I am unaware of the steps involved.

I would suggest you keep it. I don't think there are any more Proof's available. So you might have gotten a Coin that someone returned. I think I had 3 that might have a small Pin Size Black Mark. It they were to be graded think they would come back Proof 69. But then I will just hold them until the market picks up. Good Luck -goldnugget
