I have been on a really good streak with Pennies over the past few months. However today I started going through a box I got from some bank and it was tapped up to all get out. I thought this must have something good inside.
Well, I am about 90% done, and I have found only 12 pennies older than 1980 and only 2 US cents (one being copper).
There are lots of 80-81, plus lots of pre 96 copper pennies as well, just nothing I was looking for.
I noticed that someone marked on the flap with a yellow felt marker.
I unfortunately do not remember which city I was in when I got this box, but I am pretty sure it was someone's dump

Each bank is different...
It really is how well you make relations with the teller at the business wicket. I go to 5 banks on the regular... at least 3 times per month. Almost all the staff there know me as "that coin collector guy"
Sometimes the bank tellers feel they're being helpful and will hold onto things like $2 U.S. notes... when it might be something you don't want... I still just take it anyways... and smile...
I have some tellers who still receive pennies and they put them away for me... as well as anything they think I might like...
Remember to most tellers it just seems odd and weird as they're looking at banking from the business end of things...
Make connections.. build relationships and you'll be surprised what may develop...Good luck!

No I don't go to TD, so don't worry. and Agcoin is correct, I actually have a route I go every Saturday, I hit upto 12 banks, getting pennies from probably 10 of them every week. Some of these banks are notorious for not giving up the pennies, but you need to have the right relationship with them.
Go into a different TD bank, and ask for a bunch of nickels or quarters, whatever you roll search, then before they leave to get the rolls, say this " I would also be interested if you had any Pennies that I could take off your hands, Giving you one less hassle to deal with!"
Notice the reactions you get, normally your teller will look towards the head teller and ask about giving you the pennies (step in right direction). If the answer is no, tell them no problem, I was just trying to make your day easier. IMPORTANT, this is when you need to drop the subject of giving the pennies.
You can elaborate that you are a collector, and you pull the collectable coins out etc etc, small talk, small talk
The key here is making the rapport, after doing this once, I HAVE been given pennies, normally I will leave it and try again in a few weeks (but going in and getting quarters dimes nickels).
I actually have Banks Calling me now telling me they have pennies, so I must be doing something right.

I never thought of it as taking them off there hands because they always just say there not allowed to give them out anymore... no matter what I say. I will try what you said, thanks

I find rural banks are the easiest to get pennies. The main one I go to just keeps them until someone asks for them because it costs them too much to ship the pennies off.
