I'm not sure if any of you were following this last week on ebay but I paid what I consider to be FMV for a coin I have at AG03. What say you fine members of the Numismatic brethren?

The wear into the rim is that of an aG-03, yea but the details in the hair, cap and wings are more of a VG-08, I'd say the coin is somewhere in the G-04 Range. So if you paid an aG-03 price, you did really well.

High-end at the grade, but I have to agree with you. Too much rim involvement for G4, but less interior wear than most at AG3. Well-chosen.

G-4 based on overall eye appeal.
I've seen a lot worse in G-4 slabs.

Nice original looking coin, tougher date.

I would agree with G4. Too much detail for a 3 grade. Nice pickup

I think it just makes G-4.

AG3 is the conservative grade. I'd go 3.5

Here's a PCGS G04 from CoinFacts. I'd like to see ours with more light on it. A Good-04 is not out of the question for your piece.

I would agree it will grade g4. There is enough detail there - a nice original coin by the way!

Seems better that my AG03, top left of the three 1811/09 dimes in my collection (you can tell 1811/09 is one of my favorite dates).

Wow Germanics! Not one, heck not even two...in Hockey that's called a Hat Trick!

I like that PCGS coin BH. I will get a shot with more light to try and duplicate that pic and repost later today.

BH - as requested. Lighted shots. I like the diffused lighting I get from my dome that I use but this shot does make the coin more comparable to the PCGS G4 that was posted.
