Happened to come across this the other day at a yard sale along with a few other things and thought it would be a nice addition. I am pretty sure this would be classified as a woody, if I'm correct it would be the most extreme I have seen to date in hand anyway. Btw this was shortly after a Verdi-care treatment(< love that stuff) Please excuse the dust particles on rev. Enjoy!

Very nice find!

Thanks BadThad appreciate the grade approximation as I was kinda wondering on that.. I'm horrible at grading older Lincoln cents. Well that was a great score at $15 which is right about low vf money and takes quite a jump at xf.. Like $43 range on numismedia. Thanks for the response as well as a superior product. Forgot to do before and after photos but wow big difference.

I thought they were called "Wheaties" because of the wheat on them, not woodies?

Mikeru,
Woody refers to the wood grain effect from a bad mixture of materials used to make the coin.

This particular coin is a 'woody' because of the wood-grain look of the coin.

Thanks for clarifying the term "woody." I've been collecting for 40 years and never had heard that before. I have seen woodies, though--now I know what to call 'em!
