I'm thinking of bidding on this....( ebay) 1804 UNC CHOICE -PLAIN 4- NO STEMS C-13 B-10 R-1 DRAPED BUST Half Cent ID#RR547

It sure looks like a great specimen to me - Maybe a 64+ ?

Would appreciate any input.

It looks almost to good. The eyes look funny to me. But then again, I've never seen one with so much detail visable around the brow.

I wouldn't touch it with stolen money. Why is it not in a slab? Answer: Because in an AU Details slab, it's a $300 coin. In a righteous MS63 slab, it's a $2500 coin. You, the buyer, are supposed to take that risk.

it should already be slabbed unless there are problems. The dealer is not a rookie and knows what he has.

Note - I just sent a question to the seller :

"Isn't this the same coin that was in a previous sale, in a slab, with improperly cleaned details ? "

His reply was : "No"

- Hmmmmmmmm

Thanks again all !

When a coin like THAT is not in a reputable TPG holder, it becomes extremely questionable.

Yup, avoid.
