I wonder if these are doubled? Both are slightly different with notching either in the first 4 in coin "A" and on the second 4 on coin "B". Coin B has the damaged 4 but the notch can still be seen on the 2nd (or last 4). Both 9's I think have the double appearance. Thoughts?
Thanks John and Coop for having a look. Too bad coin B is kinda beat up. I have question: is the notch in the 4 a normal common feature? I only see it on listings of double dies...I don't find it in common coins. Just wondering? This is coin A
CONECA doesn't have any listing on the E-Disk that has the first 4 doubled and the last one looking normal. Wexler's book doesn't list any 1944-P DDO. (There are probably several listed, just not in the publication.
I would keep them aside for now. Who know a marker for the "B" maybe found on another coin. The "A" coin maybe be something new, or may just be a damaged coin? So I would not toss them back into your wheats pile yet.
