Actually, it is not a bad looking coin, and the reverse is still appealing.
However, it has definitely been cleaned, and this is quite evident on the obverse.

Considering all of this, how would you grade it?

Thanks!

Oh, all early dollars have probably been cleaned at some time in their past. Retoning is a wonderful thing.

not harshly cleaned and the carbon spotting is only slightly detracting for me. Overall a wonderful raw example. Thanks for sharing.

with Pertinax for both sides.
You are talking big values here.
Watch for high quality fakes. I read this in the book references I have.
Other than that I won't comment further, because I am NOT an expert on these.

I think it could grade problem-free since these older examples receive breaks. VF30 meat that would likely grade as a VF25.

Very light cleaning, VF-30 Details.
May just regrade Problem-free with a little toning.

Thank you all for your opinions. And I do concur with your grading of VF25 or so for details.
Regarding the light cleaning - I have had this coin out on a tray for 1 1/2 years now and exposed to sunlight, and I do see how toning progresses, but it is quite slow. I guess this has something to do with the relatively little amount of sunlight we get around here!

I agree on vf25 grade. There is a huge market of fakes out there. Be diligent and careful.

Another coin of yours I wish I could own. Thanks for sharing. And the chances of GERMANICVS owning a fake and being unaware at this point? Pretty much seems like zero.
