Hello All,

Ive got this coin. Which looks it had some silver in it in the past. But I can be wrong. I would say it is probably late roman coin.
Was wondering if someone can help me determine this coin?

One side standing god? with something in his hand. Below you see an Heart (mintmark?)
The lyrics are: VNITA NEIV (looks like this)

Reverse: whats left of an head facing to the right. you can see IAV of the lyrics.

Your coin is bronze. It is from Valens (DN VALEN-S PF AVG)and the reverse is SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE, victory advancing left holding wreath and palm branch. It is from the Rome mint, which you can tell because of the leaf in the mint mark. The full mintmark is SM leaf R(?), the question mark because I can't see the workshop. It was issued from A.D. 24 Aug 367- Nov 375.

THx! So probably one of the most common coins? If it is minted in rome. It was the head capital of the empire. Of does that not say anything?
It misses an part of the head. Looks like it has not been strike in the past. Or some imitation? The things on the right from the angel? are leaves then?

The angel is Victory. If the coin were Greek then the angel would be Nike. I can't see what you are referring to "to the right" are you looking at Victory's wings?

I think what he may be referring to is what is in victory's hands.

Left hand is a palm frond

Right hand is a wreath

At the time Rome was not the capital of Rome...Constantinople was. Rome was still capital of the Western Portion, though.

Not Rome, but Milan was the capital of the west during that time. The Western Roman Senate was still based in Rome though.
