I just added this 1948 silver dollar to my collection. I would hugely appreciate any comments about the grading of this coin. I have included a picture of the front and back of the coin..I am also thinking of grading this professionally but have never done this before. I live in Toronto and any advice would help. thanks

Fields look clean, I'm OK with 63. If ever there was a coin that needed certification it's this. Send it in to ICCS. You living in toronto means it'll be much easier for you to complete the process.
Good luck.

This coin should be certified and yes.. send it to ICCS since you live in Toronto. Looks mint state to me.

At least a MS63. Hard to tell from photo but it might be a SWL which would make it even more valuable. Definetely send it to ICCS for grading, then you will know exactly what you have. One of the nicer 48's that I've seen.

I am also sure it would 63................on a higher value coin the variety, (SWL) would not matter a toss.

I really appreciate the feedback...I will take it to ICCS for grading and will post the result when I get it back. I bought it on ebay as part of a larger coin collection. I plan on posting pics of some of the other coins from the collection for some feedback on whether or not to certify them with ICCS. Thanks again!

Well if all the Silver Dollars received are of the same quality as the 1948 displayed here, then you have an awesome collection. Mine is almost complete for 20th century - missing 1948 but my 35-59 coins aren't top quality coins unfortunately Everything 60 and newer though is PL to Proof https://goccf.com/t/179188&whichpage=3#1656777
