I've bought 3 PEI large cents recently, a couple at incredibly low prices. I received the first one today. I wasn't expecting to see what was in the envelope. When I opened it, the first thing I saw was a note saying "these are really hard to find in good condition," which is so true. Then I looked at the coin. I was expecting a much more worn coin as the photos in the link indicate. What I received has far greater detail in the leaves, with just a few small worn flat spots. It's barely brown. I feel a bit guilty because I paid $10.50, plus $1.50 shipping. I think the cellophane on the flip distorted the photo badly.

Sounds like a great deal. Last Xmas I was giving customers 2 for 1 or throwing in a extra coin if need be, dont ask me why I guess I was in the giving mood.
Can you post a pic?

I'll try. Lighting is horrendous in my apartment, and my older Nikon D300 doesn't focus in low light at all.

I believe the Nikon D300 supports focus confirmation for manual focus. Perhaps try that, or shine an extra light on your coin to help take the pic?

I would also agree, this coin is NOT problem-free. I wouldn't go as low as VG because the reverse is a better grade than the obverse but i'd probably say VF-20 Details at best at best.

I wouldn't want to own this coin. I'd much rather spend $200 more and get myself a decent MS coin. Or even spend the $40 it takes to get a Good AU.

There's a much nicer coin available here for $20: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1871-Prince...em2595ad3cc4

@ $10.50 ............... for that cleaned VG at best.......... way too much! Those are the kind we throw in our 2-3 dollar junk boxes. Spend the money and buy a nice certified one !
