What are your opinions on NGC and PCGS's photo services? How is the quality/how do the pictures turn out? Is it worth the fee?

Only if the coin itself is nice enough to be photographed. A nice toner maybe, or a high grade Morgan. Again, when getting a coin graded the coin must be worth the grading fee. When getting it imaged, it needs to be worth the grading + imaging fee.

They're very good, but no better than you can become yourself. We have an entire subforum dedicated to teaching that level of photographic skill.

I'll take my own images.
If the TPG's want images for their records that's up to them.
