When Did NGC Stop Using This Slab Design?

coinish Valued Member United States 62 Posts	Posted 09/23/2014 6:53 pm The reverse of this NGC slab appears to be an old design that is no longer in use. Besides the design being different, it says nothing about PNG. Newer NGC slabs have the label going all the way across the top of the reverse and have the words "The Official Grading Service of the ANA and PNG." How long ago did NGC change the design, or maybe I should ask when did they become the official grading service for PNG? Report this Post to the Staff

coinish Valued Member United States 62 Posts	Posted 09/23/2014 8:01 pm I found part of my answer concerning when PNG started using NGC for their official grading on the NGC website. "Since 2004, the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation has been the official grading service of the PNG. All NGC coin holders now include the logos of both the ANA and PNG, which reflects NGC's goal of expanding and promoting the positive values and integrity of these organizations." But I am still wondering when they started using this reverse design. Could this be a slab from the early 1990s? Report this Post to the Staff
Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 09/23/2014 8:37 pm Without seeing the front of the slab it is either NGC 7 used from 1997 through July 2000, or NGC 9 used from July 2001 to July 2003. That reverse hologram design was used on four different NGC slab generations. Report this Post to the Staff
